FAQ From the Manufacturer:
How long do Pony Pops last?
It really depends on the horse, how he is housed, and what else he has to do. The average time is about 3-5 days. The Pony Pop last a little longer in the Lic’n Spin holder.
Where and how should I hang the Pony Pop?
Hang the Pony Pop about 2 inches above the top of the horses’ head, he should just have to reach up to get it. Make sure it is in a place that he can’t pin it against a wall or rail. Use any type of sturdy rope to hang it from an eyelet screwed into a rafter or overhead object in the stall. If there is no place to hang the Pony Pop from overhead in the stall, people have hung them over the stall front, between the bars. Be creative but be safe, hang the Pony Pop high enough that the horse cannot get tangled in the rope. As an extra precaution use duct tape and tape the loop of the rope closed.
Where should I hang the Lic 'N Spin holder?
The holder can be mounted on any flat surface or on pipe railing. The hardware to mount the holder either way is provided with the holder. The holder is made of very high quality plastic and designed to be as horse-proof as possible.
What is a Pony Pop made of?
We use all natural ingredients, nothing artificial EVER! All Pony Pops have the same grain and molasses base. The grain mix includes; barley, rolled oats, beet pulp, soy bean, ground flax seed and canola seed. We then add real carrots to our carrot flavor, apples to the apple flavor, sea salt to the sea salt flavor and high quality peppermint oil and crushed peppermints to the peppermint flavor.
Won't my horse just bite right through it?
No, the Pony Pop is just too hard. The high heat cooking process makes the Pony Pop very dense and brick-hard. Because it is hard the horse has to slowly work the Pony Pop away. Also because it swings, or spins in the holder, he can’t get a good grip on it. We’ve given Pony Pops to big horses like Belgians and have never seen one get bitten through.
What are some of the other uses for Pony Pops?
Besides just for fun, Pony Pops have many beneficial uses. Pony Pops are perfect for horses in any confinement type situation. Customers have purchased them to entertain horses during stall rest or lay up. They are used when mares are brought in before foaling. They’ve kept horses busy during bad weather and at horse shows. The Lic’n Spin holder, mounted on the drop down bars, works perfectly in horse trailers for long trailer trips.

They can simply be hung by a rope or placed in the Lic N Spin holder.
| | At first, we were skeptical about the Lic N Spin's durability and concerned about the cost of the product. But we still had Pops under consideration for purchase as the manufacturer guarantees the holder for life.
It was at about that time our "big" horse got bored, kicked the wall of his stall and cut his right rear pastern. Faced with a vet bill of $3000 and a three-month layoff, the Pony Pops (which alleviate boredom) then looked like a bargain in retrospect.
We now have Pony Pops installed in three of our stalls. Our horses just LOVE them! When placed where they can lick and look out of their stalls at the same time, they are in heaven. Pony Pop Lic N Spin holders have been in place for three months in our test barns and even though our Tbreds tend to destroy nearly everything in their stalls, they have not damaged the Lic N Spin holders. We have also tried hanging Pony Pops by a rope but found that the horse's face and head tends to get sticky and messy--the Lic N Spin holders make a nicer, more sanitary installation. We find a set of two Pony Pops lasts about 10-14 days.
Pony Pops are a must if you have a stall-bound horse with an active mind.
