| | | We use the URSA Contractor Wagon with No Flat tires to clean our stalls here at Tumbledown Farm. We simply roll the wagon into the stall, fill it with horse poop and soiled shavings, then roll it out and hitch it to one of our Artic Cat ATVs. We have a low spot in pasture #3 that is in need of 300K yards of material but it is 1/2 mile away. The URSA allows us to tow it behind the ATV and then dump the load into our ever-growing compost pile. This was quite a hike with a wheelbarrow before the URSA was purchased.
Which URSA to buy and what options are needed revolve around the following:
Cargo Box: Standard and Contractors. The Standard box weighs 8 lbs less than the Contractor version but they have the same capacity. Being nearly 1/4 inch thick, however, the Contractor version is built to take a pounding and will tolerate heavy items (like firewood) being stacked across its sides. TFR uses the contractor version exclusively but for cleaning stalls the Standard model would work just fine.
The No Flat tires are an absolute must around here because we have a wild sticker called a "goat head" that will quickly dispatch ordinary bicycle or wheel barrow tires. The No Flat option is definitely worth getting if you have stickers!!
The clevis hitch is a quality piece of hardware that enables the URSA to be pulled by an ATV. This is where the unit really, really shines. If you own or even think about owning an ATV someday, get this hitch--you'll be glad you did.
The triple grip handle unables the human to turn their back on the URSA and pull like a mule using both hands. While nothing pulls as easy as the URSA, get a big load in the mud or sand and you'll see the value of the triple grip immediately. |
